Deanna Brown is an emerging health coach, sharing fitness and nutrition advice through her Fairyfitmother blog, Instagram and YouTube channel. She wanted a simple word mark and color palette for her branding. I started her project by brainstorming different themes based on who she is, what services she provides, and how she wants to be viewed by her clients. Like any good fairy godmother, she can help you with your life changing goals. But we wanted to steer clear of any cartoon fairy images or wings because this Fairyfitmother is strong, confident and intelligent.
Once the logo was finalized, Fairyfitmother needed editable templates designed for multiple documents she would be sending to her clients. These templates needed to function with multiple tables that could be updated as her client’s fitness goals progressed. I created Google docs templates, making a letterhead and providing different layouts with font families and colors to match her identity.
In an effort to constantly improve my typography skills, I have been creating all-text layouts using quotes from books I have just finished reading.
I wanted to focus on spacing and words as objects forming a composition.
This is an exercise in working with a body of text and a drop cap. I wanted to focus on the type, versus on an image. I hand-lettered some of the elements to and used a 1960's pulp-fiction color palette incorporating a halftone.
